US DOJ and Tether Shut Down $3.3 Million Crypto Fraud Network
A US District Judge has authorized the forfeiture of $2.5 million in cryptocurrencies linked to fraudulent investment schemes, while authorities seized an additional $868,000 in digital assets. The operation, supported by Tether, underscores the Department of Justice’s intensified crackdown on crypto-related fraud.
"Whether they are in our district’s streets or hiding behind a computer screen abroad, the United States will continue to hold fraudsters and grifters accountable," said US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. The DOJ emphasized its commitment to compensating victims by dismantling sophisticated crypto scams and reclaiming illicit gains.
